Aug-29-08 - Major anchor UPDATE scheduled - DCM

Anchor software update has been postponed - Sept-2-08

Anchor is overdue for software patches and updates. I intend to perform maintenance this Labour Day weekend - Monday, September 1st. For the duration of this maintenance, anchor will be UNAVAILABLE. In addition, any long running jobs WILL BE TERMINATED. Please be aware of this and plan your work accordingly.

For REMOTE ACCESS to the POLAN network while anchor is unavailable, please ssh to:

        portal.phys.ocean.dal.ca

This service is being made available temporarily so you can:

• check your mail (pine/alpine/mutt)
• get a launch pad to reach other services from outside POLAN

Please note that your anchor home directories will NOT be available. I have copied all ~/.pinerc files, as well as current ~/mail/ directories onto portal, but any unusual configurations may need to be modified by hand. Note that upon completion of maintenance, I will copy back any newly saved mail, so you won't lose anything. I will NOT, however, copy back any other files you create in your 'portal' home directory.
