Jade crashed over the weekend (Friday Oct 12th - in the evening) and I've just done preliminary diagnostics and rebooted the system. The system was booted up Monday Oct.15th and is online / working "normally" as of ~10am.

Initial symptoms are consistent with the crash that happened on Oct/1st, i.e., Jade reported a fan failure, then an over-temp condition and later shut itself down. Initial analysis of logs suggests this is a software issue and not a hardware issue (i.e., the system health monitoring daemon which is incorrectly reporting error states; and then shutting things down in response to the "error state".)

If any further maintenance is required (or reboots of Jade) I'll provide as much advance notice as reasonably possible.

I would continue to strongly recommend that people "save their work frequently" and work under the assumption that Jade is somewhat unreliable in its present condition, i.e., assume we'll have "about 1 crash per week" on the current regime -- pending resolution or further work on the system.
