A new version of MatLab -- Version 7.3.0.298 (R2006b) -- has been available from MathWorks since early Sept/06 -- and it has now been installed to ANCHOR in the directory /opt/matlabR2006b

To run the new version of MatLab on anchor, simply type the command shown below in a terminal window on Anchor:

                      /opt/matlabR2006b/bin/matlab

Note that (for the moment), the command "matlab" typed by itself at the prompt on anchor will launch a (very) old version of Matlab. This is being left intact of compatability reasons, but it may be changed in the future.

Please note that workstations running their own installations of Matlab can also get this latest and greatest version of MatLab installed, if so desired. Please contact Tim Chipman to schedule an upgrade installation for the network license version of Matlab (i.e., for machines which already have an old version of matlab running and using the central POLAN matlab license pool).

For machines which have not ever had MatLab installed in the past, there may be details to work out regarding licenses before proceeding with any new installations.

root@anchor[/opt/matlabR2006b/bin]# ./matlab
