POLAN email delivery to cease

Within the next two weeks, ITS, which receives and forwards all non-local email for the @phys.ocean.dal.ca domain, will stop the delivery of all such email to our POLAN mail server, here in Oceanography, as part of its Office365 implementation.

Instead, emails will be delivered to your NetID@Dal.ca Office365 account.

HOWEVER, in order for this to happen, I must supply your Dalhousie NetID to the Office365 migration team at ITS.

Please email your NetID to daniel@phys.ocean.dal.ca.

IF YOU DO NOT PROVIDE ME WITH YOUR NETID, EMAIL TO YOUR @phys.ocean.dal.ca ADDRESS(ES) WILL BOUNCE AFTER THE CUT-OFF DATE!

Your NetID is typically two consonants followed by six numbers, e.g. my own NetID is "dn860708". Some staff may have a variant of their name instead, e.g. "dmorrison". It is the the username you use to sign into http://my.dal.ca/. DO NOT SEND ME YOUR PASSWORD!

For ease of transition to Office365, I can begin forwarding your email to your NetID@Dal.ca address ahead of the cut-off date (and optionally keep a copy locally until then). This will make the cut-off, when it happens, seamless.

If you do not have a valid NetID:

Faculty, staff, current students and alumni are all entitled to a NetID with corresponding email address. Visit Dal's NetID/Password site to register for the first time, or reactivate an old account. For specific account problems, contact the ITS Help desk.

For data logger and other non-person accounts which currently have no corresponding NetID, a project account can be created. A project account application form is available. Go to this Sharepoint web page (Dal login required) and click NetID Application form. You will require departmental approval.

Mailing lists, such as DOSA, C-DOGS, and POMSS will also need to be converted to Office365 distribution lists. This will be the last step.

If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact me.
